Happy Holidays Readers,
Welcome to our annual Pubby Awards edition of Builder and Developer Magazine! Before we begin, please press play on the classic Christmas song, “Happy Holidays,” to really set the tone of this note.
Let me tell you, I love, love, LOVE the holidays – I love the festive cheer, the sweater weather, the extended family time, and most importantly, the holiday sweets. But I also love reflecting on the year as a whole, and looking back to see how much the building industry has grown, and this magazine with it!
We have featured some amazing projects this year, interviewed some especially cool people, (looking at you here, Larry Webb), and have showcased some super innovative builders (Lennar, that would be you). I am so grateful to have been involved in all of it!
Now that we are into our awards issue, we can reflect on our time this year, and let our readers’ voices be heard! You chose these award winners – and I have to tell you – you have great taste. This year’s award-winners are so deserving, because they are so committed to this industry and have just worked so hard all year.
The people behind the award-winning companies are so incredibly deserving of these Pubby awards, and hearing the validation from you, our readers, was very gratifying. Being able to feature D.R. Horton as Builder of the Year is easily a highlight for me as Editor, or just you know, as a person. Excuse me, I’m feeling a bit starstruck.
Of course, in this issue we also hear from our regular contributors; we have columnist Bob Mirman, up to his usual anecdotal antics, Patrick Duffy, who is always so dedicated to getting the latest and greatest numbers for you all, Ali Wolf, a long time reader favorite, and more. We work hard to get you all the wonderful project features, but the columnists provide so much color to the issues, we would be lost without them. And if you, our reader, would like to become a contributor to the magazine and see your name and thoughts memorialized in print, please feel free to shoot me an email!
As we head into 2019, we will go forth with the confidence that a successful year has brought us. And in 2019, I hope to see even more innovative projects grace our pages, and new contributors abundant.
May we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We shall see you in 2019!
Until next time,
