After multiple seamless mergers with reputable builders, TRI Pointe Group has never been stronger. TRI Pointe Group is a family of premium homebuilders with a long legacy of providing sustainable features in an effort to provide healthier, higher performing homes to buyers in major markets across the United States. For nearly two decades, TRI Pointe’s homebuilding brands have been industry leaders due to their use of new technologies, materials, and strategies in constructing homes that produce superior performance in energy efficiency.
TRI Pointe delivers its LivingSmart® program in order to meet the commitment of providing some of the healthiest and highest-performing homes in the industry. This comprehensive program was initially created by Pardee Homes, a member of the TRI Pointe Group. LivingSmart®, TRI Pointe Group’s comprehensive program that seamlessly blends the design, development, construction and operation of high-performing homes to provide healthier, more comfortable living environments with lower operating costs, is now integrated throughout all six premium builder brands that comprise the TRI Pointe Group.
“At TRI Pointe Group, we are constantly evolving and aiming higher to meet and exceed customer expectations. One of the steps we are taking in that direction includes our continuous effort to stay ahead of the technology curve by delivering smart home solutions that enrich our customers’ lives while contributing to their health and well-being, as well as our planet,” explained Tom Mitchell, President and COO of TRI Pointe Group.
Pardee Homes San Diego has opened its first all-solar master-planned community in Santee, California. Upon completion, the Weston community will include 415 single-family homes across 204 acres and four neighborhoods — Sandstone and Lake Ridge by Pardee Homes San Diego, and Prism and Talus by TRI Pointe Homes Southern California. While Pardee Homes San Diego has offered solar options to buyers in its communities for more than a decade, this is the company’s first master-planned community in which every home will include solar for purchase or lease, increasing energy efficiency and cost savings for homeowners.
“Weston’s all-solar program has been designed in response to both the growing demand from energy-conscious buyers and the State of California’s zero-net energy goals,” said Jimmy Ayala, Division President of Pardee Homes San Diego. “By designing an environmentally-conscious community that adheres to Title 24 regulations to ensure new buildings are energy efficient and preserve environmental quality, we’re simultaneously delivering appealing home options across a variety of buyer segments and price points while achieving an unparalleled level of state-recognized compliance.”
Pardee Homes San Diego and TRI Pointe Homes have partnered with San Jose-based SunPower to equip every home at Weston with state-of-the-art, energy-efficient solar panels. Sun- Power, who celebrates 10 years of building solar communities with Pardee Homes San Diego, manufactures the components of the systems at Weston with a 25-year warranty. Homes will come with a range of 3- to 5- kilowatt SunPower systems, based on their designated plan’s square footage. Annually, systems generate up to 8,000 kilowatt hours based on home orientation. While the level of savings will be dependent upon a family’s energy usage, it’s been shown that a SunPower system can provide up to 80 percent of a home’s electricity needs.
Beyond solar, Pardee Homes and TRI Pointe Homes offer TRI Pointe Group’s signature energy- efficient program in all homes across the four neighborhoods. Greater comfort, better efficiency, and more savings are just some of the added benefits to buyers. LivingSmart® includes the design, development, construction, and ongoing operation of high-performing homes that provide healthier, more comfortable living environments while lowering operating costs, and includes five specific areas of advancement.
Outside the home, Weston is focused on catering to residents’ healthy and active lifestyles with a number of outdoor amenities, including a private 2,700-square-foot recreation center that will provide a hub for community life fit for the outdoor enthusiast. Additionally, Weston features a four-acre public park, and nearly one-half of Weston’s site will be preserved as permanent open space dedicated to Mission Trails Regional Park.
“Our mission was to preserve and protect the rich environmental elements this land has to offer,” said Ayala. “What makes this location so unique is that the community is in harmony with the surrounding environment, and the parks and paths are all accessible by public roads and trails, which allows the surrounding community to enjoy its beauty as well.”
The simple yet effective names of each of the five LivingSmart® components convey the importance of these features to customers. For example, HealthSmart® includes features and finishes that contribute to improved indoor air quality through the use of low-emission carpets, countertops, and other building materials. EnergySmart™ refers to features that reduce energy use through advanced construction techniques for the building envelope and the addition of solar, ENERGY STAR® appliances and low-e windows. HomeSmart® includes home techonology such as structured wire packages, Wi-Fi enabled thermostats and more. EarthSmart® includes products or practices that relate to recycling and use fewer resources. Finally, WaterSmart® describes home features that help reduce water consumption with low-flow devices and drought-tolerant landscaping.
Sales at Weston’s four neighborhoods are currently underway with 14 model homes available for touring. Buyers can choose from a variety of home sizes and price points unique to each neighborhood. Homes at Weston range from 1,789 to 3,743 square feet and are priced from the high $500,000s to the high $700,000s, depending on the neighborhood.
